The Library of Endor

old-booksBelow are details of my current projects. I will aim to update this page with the speed and regularity of a thousand longships but please note that, at this stage, only my blog is available to the public. Contact the Mad Hatter if you have any queries.

The Tents of Kedar
Soul exertions and the death of sacred tongues

An examination of religious language in the ancient world and the ‘contractual’ relationship between man and the divine observed in sacred texts, carmens and litanies. My hypothesis is that while the prevalence of religious language is in decline, it continues to have a profound influence on the way we think and correspondingly—the way we speak. Details and an informal background can be found here.

Lustered in Gold, Sheeted in Fire
The prophetic tribe of 19th century visionaries

A look at the fin de siècle with a particular examination of Symbolism, Decadence and the lives of Verlaine, Baudelaire, Swinburne, Moreau and Huysmans.

Lacrimosa Dies Illa
An elegy on the death of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

A tribute to my favourite composer. This project is in its infancy. I am oscillating between writing an intimate portrayal of Mozart’s wretched last days in Vienna and the prophetic quality to his Requiem, or a more general study of Mozart’s enduring legacy.

Novel—title TBA

A darkly humourous, genre-busting yarn that takes place in present day London. Barring the author’s inertia and acts of God its completion is scheduled for 2013.
